[ translate ]

Property from a Dutch Private Collection
Théo van Rysselberghe
1862 - 1926
Vitrine d’aquarium (labres)

signed with the monogram and dated 1916 (lower left)
oil on canvas
65 by 100cm., 25⅝ by 39⅜in.
Framed: 79.5 by 114cm., 31¼ by 44⅞in.
Painted in 1916.

To be included in the forthcoming supplement to the Van Rysselberghe Catalogue raisonnée being prepared by Ronald Feltkamp under the number 1916.034 S.

We thank Olivier Bertrand for providing additional information on this painting which will be included in his Théo Van Rysselberghe Catalogue raisonné.

Condition Report:
The canvas is not lined and inspection under UV light does not reveal any signs of retouching. There is a varnish that appears to have been applied while the work was framed and so it does not reach the very extreme edges and has resulted in some fine milky white lines to parts of the left, right and lower edges. There is a small nail-sized hole to the centre of the lower edge and some light surface dirt. There are some fine lines of craquelure in places. This work is in overall good condition.

Condition 11 of the Conditions of Business for Buyers (Online Only) is not applicable to this lot.

Provenance:
Pr. Pieter Reinardus Hoornweg, Utrecht
Thence by descent to the present owner
