The oil painting on offer comes from a unique Belgian art collection and shows a 17th century depiction, made by a Flemish artist unknown to us. The depiction shows the torture of Saint Livinius, professionally painted on a canvas that was later restretched. The work has not been cleaned for a long time, which means that the original, lighter colours are less easy to perceive. The painting is in reasonably good condition and at the time it was professionally fitted with a support cloth on the back. Unfortunately, the original ebony frame from that time is no longer present. This special painting can, of course, be shown during the auction in our art dealership. It is a unique piece that, given the quality of the depiction, can be attributed to one of the better painters from the 17th century Flemish school. At the time, Rubens also made this depiction.
