Note

The headboard with lamps was originally installed in the main bedroom of Vladimir Kagan and Erica Wilson's Park Avenue apartment. The second headboard, of European walnut veneer and ivory enamel paint, was Kagan's first headboard design, and the present lot was a sample executed in 1948.

The headboard with lamps in overall fair condition, with wear commensurate with age and everyday use; this includes minor edge losses to veneer at top and base, wear and loss to finish, assorted scratches, scuffs, and light to moderate soiling; lamps swing freely but are somewhat loose; one rough wood block applied to the rear of headboard present but detached; lamps with cords present but not tested; integrated multi-port outlet with extension cord not tested; volume control knob to side of headboard with cut wires. The painted headboard with moderate wear, including losses to paint, particularly at the base, scattered scuffs and scratches to front face, wear to edges and corners with minor veneer losses, and a few larger (under 1 in.) veneer losses to back edge of headboard top panel.
