Volney Allan Richardson, artist, painter, illustrator, muralist, decorative painter, teacher and lecturer, primarily known for his paintings of floral still lifes, landscapes, murals, forestscapes, marine/harbor scenes, townscapes, figurative works, portraits, genre-human activity. Richardson typically worked in oil but was known to use watercolors as well. Volney was born in 1880 in Attica, NY After attending Attica High School, Volney studied at the Buffalo School of Fine Arts at the Albright Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY, with William Merritt Chase. He also studied at the Art Students' League of Buffalo, NY, and the Art Students' League in New York City under Edward Dufner, after winning the New York scholarship in 1905. He died in 1955, Houston, Texas.
