BIOGRAPHY:
W Ray Stevens of Richmond, Indiana studied at Indiana University East and the Indianapolis Art League. He was a student of Robert Brubaker.He was a life-long resident of Richmond. Ray was a 1942 graduate of Richmond High School and a 1948 graduate of Purdue University. He was a WW II veteran of the Army Air Corp serving as a Lieutenant with the 361st Fighter Group. Ray was the founder of Stevens Wire Products in 1960, and retired in 1987. He was a member and former deacon and elder of First Presbyterian Church; a member of the Indiana Artist Club, Hoosier Salon, Watercolor Society of Indiana, Forest Hills Country Club, and Richmond Art Museum; and a former member of the Richmond Lions Club and Richmond Elks Lodge #649. Ray served on the board of the Richmond YMCA for many years. In 1998, he was inducted into the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame.
