WEDGWOOD BLACK BASALT LARGE TWO-HANDLED OVIFORM VASE AND COVER
mid-19th Century, impressed uppercase mark, after the Antique Lebes Gamikos form, the flat cylindrical cover with foliate baluster finial, the ovoid vase with upright wishbone handles, applied in relief with Apollo and the Muses within registers of anthemion, overlapping leaves and acanthus, on a conforming circular foot and square base, h: 22 1/4 in.
