WEST VIRGINIA MERCHANT'S STENCILED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, "5" gallon capacity, cylindrical form with collared flat-top rounded rim, heavy beaded neck ring, arched handles, and Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt "A. CONRAD. / SHINNSTON. / W. VA." with additional stenciled ornaments, and brushed cobalt stripe at collar. Circa 1890.
Condition: Undamaged. Firing imperfections, including glazed over flake below handle, as made.
Size: 15 1/2" H, 9" D rim.
