WESTON, EDWARD (1886-1958) [Kale, halved,]
1930. Vintage gelatin silver print dry-mounted to thin buff card, 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches (190 x 242 mm), signed in full "Edward Weston and dated 1930 (l.r.), initialled and numbered 5 from the [projected] edition of 50 (l.l.). Some overall oxidation (silvering) to tones, fading and some yellowing, pobably from interaction with the adhesive of the mount, two faint scratches to upper center, a few minor creaes at edges apparently from the process of mounting, the verso of the mount exhibiting some foxing.
It seems unlikely that more than a small fraction of the projected edition of 50 was ever completed. Copy 4 was sold in 2014 (Sotheby's New York, Tuesday September 30, lot 35). Conger 622
