WIA at Gettysburg- Albumen Portrait
Albumen portrait of Samuel Noyes, who as a Private in the 12th New Hampshire Infantry was shot in the shoulder at Gettysburg on July 2nd, 1863. Surviving his wound, Noyes left the 12th NH to serve as an officer in the 1st US Volunteers, a regiment primarily composed of former Confederate prisoners who were allowed their freedom on the condition that serve in the Union army. Condition as shown.
