WILLIAM DOLE PAINTING SIGNED 1956

William Dole (1917-1983 CA/IN). A very good, early work by William Dole. The work is mixed media (W/C / gouache / graphite) on heavy paper (appears to be laid) and appears to have a collage element at the margins and on close examination incising/etching strokes are apparent. The work is signed and dated (1956). It is nicely presented in a good gilt frame, under glass, and is finely matted. Staempfli Gallery (47 E 77th St NY, NY) label, verso. Measures: 23 1/2" x 27 1/4" Sight: 16 1/2" x 20 1/2" Provenance: Property of a well-known Hudson Valley art collector.
