WILLIAM MASON BROWN AMERICAN (1828-1898) OIL ON CANVAS 19TH C. H 20" W 16" STILL LIFE WITH FRUITS, SAMOVAR, AND TEACUP Signed lower right "WMBrown" in block letters. Provenance: c. 1900 - Collection of Forest Milton Towl, 45 Montgomery St., Brooklyn, NY; By descent to Theodore Clinton Towl, Pittsburgh, PA c. 1956; By descent to Theodore Winsing Towl, MI c. 1976; By descent to consignor. Framed in original frame liner with lemon gold finish. Liner was removed from original frame so that frame could be used as a mirror frame (which now hangs in another descendant's home in Colorado). Frame outer dimensions: 26" X 22".

Condition Report: Painting is in original untouched condition. Original canvas and stretcher. Retains what appears to be its original varnish. No evidence of overpaint, inpainting, or restoration. Clean when viewed under black light. JJW
