in a period mahogany veneer frame with inscription on verso W.M. Prior / 3d. Section East Boston 1847.

Condition Report:
In fine condition. Moderate craquelure on sitter's jacket and minor crackle on areas of background. Slight concave bend of artist board lower right corner. These issues are commensurate with age and the materials used. 2-inch scratch and 1/8 inch indent on sitter's right shoulder, light soil on sitter's chin, and some abrasions to the frame.
