[ translate ]

WILLIAM NICHOLSON
1872-1949
A GAME OF PELOTA

oil on canvasboard
33 by 39.5cm.; 13 by 15¼in.
Executed in 1939.

Condition Report:
The board appears sound and bows slightly. There may be some very faint rubbing from the frame at the extreme right edge. There are a few tiny lines of craqulure to the left most figure, only visible upon very close inspection. There is light surface dirt and studio detritus to the work, most evident towards the right edge. There may be a layer of discoloured varnish. There is a very small accretion at the upper right corner. There are one or two instances of rubbing to the work. There is evidence of historic water damage to the verso of the board. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition.

Inspection under Ultraviolet light reveals a few instances of retouching and fluorescence to the upper edge towards the upper right corner, in the lower left quadrant.
