WINCHESTER 1876 NORTH WEST MOUNTED POLICE MARKED

LEVER ACTION SRC. Cal. 45-75. S# 45087. Bbl. 22" carbine style w/ fixed front sight & graduated leaf rear sight. Action has saddle ring on left side. Lower tang is altered w/ added lever latch, the first digit of S# is largely removed. Band fastened full length carbine forearm w/ steel nose cap. Straight grip walnut stock w/ steel carbine buttplate. Right side of butt has lightly visible "NWMP" marking. CONDITION: bbl. & action have dull faded reblued finish over areas of remaining pitting & scratches. Case colored hammer & lever have faded to a mottled gray patina w/ spots of corrosion. Forearm has 7 3/4" section of spliced wood at front to return to full length configuration. Rear section of forearm is refinished showing areas of epoxy filler w/ scratches, handling marks & traces of checkering. Sanded & refinished stock has repaired break running from rear of tang to buttplate w/ areas of epoxy filled, sm. chips around action showing scratches & marks. Bore has darkened appearance retaining largely intact rifling showing scattered pitting. (01-17488/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
