Cal. 44-40. S# 214541B. Bbl. 24" oct. Dovetail half nickel front sight w/ dovetail adj. rear sight. Half mag. Uncheckered forend. Uncheckered straight grip stock w/ crescent steel trapdoor buttplate that contains 4 piece steel cleaning rod w/ brass tip. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms Museum letter providing the following information "Rifle / Octagon barrel / Plain trigger / 1/2 magazine / Received in warehouse on August 28, 1886 / Shipped from the warehouse on September 8, 1886 / Order number 10039". CONDITION: bbl. has original blue thinning in chamber & blending w/ brown patina. Wear on sharp edges & spots of fine surface oxidation. Receiver has original blue that is blending w/ a brown & gray patina w/ wear on sharp edges. Forend has original finish w/ hand worn patina, nicks & dings. Buttstock has light coat of added finish w/ hand wear in grip area. Minor handling marks. Hairline crack on left side of buttplate. Some darkening in top of grip. Bore is dark. (01-17898/BT).
