WINCHESTER MODEL 75 TARGET RIFLE .22

[ translate ]

SERIAL NUMBER: 26178. BARREL: 28". CALIBER: .22 LR. MANUFACTURED: 1941. The Winchester Model 75 Target Rifle, bearing serial number 26178, is a premier example of pre-World War II American rimfire craftsmanship. Verified by Winchester factory records as a 1941 production model, this firearm was manufactured just before the company shifted its tooling exclusively to military defense contracts. Designed to give junior shooters, military cadets, and club competitors an incredibly accurate target weapon, it scaled down the mechanical excellence of Winchester's premium Model 52 into a highly refined rimfire package. The rifle features a heavy, uncheckered American walnut target stock crafted with a straight comb and a deep pistol grip. This stock profile was specifically engineered to ensure absolute stability and comfort during prone or benchrest competition shooting. Inset seamlessly along the bottom of the wide forend is an integrated brass accessory rail, a vital feature that allows a marksman to slide and lock an adjustable hand stop and target sling into place to suit a specific shooting stance. Equipped with period-correct iron sights, the optics system on this 1941 rifle is optimized for tack-driving precision. Mounted to the receiver is a Redfield 75HW micrometer rear sight, which utilizes definitive, crisp quarter-minute click adjustments to master windage and elevation downrange. This is paired with a hooded Redfield 63 globe front sight secured at the muzzle. The globe housing features a spring-tensioned slot designed for interchangeable metallic insert cards, giving the shooter the flexibility to swap between various aperture rings or posts depending on the size of the target bullseye. At the heart of the firearm is a 28-inch, heavy-tapered target barrel chambered exclusively for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. Each barrel produced during this era was individually lead-lapped at the factory to smooth away microscopic imperfections, optimizing shot-to-shot consistency and tightening groups. Positioned atop the barrel are factory drilled and tapped holes to accommodate vintage target optics like Unertl or Lyman scopes. Driven by a smooth, manually operated bolt action built with exacting headspace tolerances, the rifle feeds from a flush-fitting, detachable 5-round box magazine and boasts a total weight of approximately 8.6 pounds. CONDITION: Good. The bore is shiny with sharp rifling. The barrel and action has taken on a deep plumb patina. Safety operation needs the attention of a qualified gunsmith. Operates normally. C&R 27-444
