WINIFRED NICHOLSON | FLOWERS IN A JAM JAR
WINIFRED NICHOLSON
1893-1981
FLOWERS IN A JAM JAR
signed indistinctly on the stretcher bar
oil on canvas
48 by 35.5cm; 19 by 14in.
Executed circa 1928.
Condition Report:
The canvas is original. The canvas undulates slightly in places. There are one or two instances of very minor abrasion at the extreme edges in one or two places. There is a stretcher bar mark towards the left edge with a few associated fine lines of cracking. There are further scattered minor lines of cracking to the work, largely only visible upon close inspection. These fine lines of cracking have been consolidated. There are a few spots of staining to the upper right edge. There are one or two possible minor flattened impasto tips and possible light surface dirt in places. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition.
Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a small number of tiny spots of retouching to the upper left quadrant. These have been very sensitively executed.
The work is floated in a painted wooden frame.
