A RAF pilot's combat report by Guy Gibson. Signed and Dated 14th March 1941. A green proforma RAF Form 1151, a pilots Combat Report filled out in two hands, the majority filled out in blue ink by Flight Lieutenant Guy Gibson, documenting one of his early kills of a Heinkel He 111 over Skegness, Lincolnshire. The form cased in plastic, with file holes on left margin.
Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC, DSO, DFC (1918-1944) was a distinguished and highly decorated bomber pilot throughout WW2. In 1943 he won his VC by leading the Dam Busters raid on the Ruhr dams. But early on his career he was flying Bristol Beaufighter I's with the 29th Squadron, flying out of RAF Wellingmore. This incident of the Heinkel is documented "He went to Skegness to collect the tail assembly as a trophy for the squadron and the crews dinghy for himself", the Heinkel having ditched at sea off Skegness.
