WORLD WAR II GERMAN METAL PLAQUE
WORLD WAR II GERMAN METAL PLAQUE
Metal plaque, 28 x 12 in., depicting six marching German soldiers in high relief. The first in the line is shown saluting while the second proudly carries an NSDAP flag. This relic was created with great care displaying exceptional detail, going so far as to present the men with multiple silhouettes to give the impression of movement. Such a meticulously crafted artifact would have most certainly graced the exterior wall of a significant building. No maker marks. Beginning at the tip of the flag and running to the top of the plaque is a 2 in. crack and heavy oxidation is seen throughout, with some patina displayed on the reverse, mainly in the recesses. Interestingly, the hands of each soldier (with the exception of the first in line) ARE missing, leading us to believe they were intentionally removed to safely detach the piece from a wall.
