WORLD WAR II 'INLAND' M1 CARBINE
Excellent war-date MI carbine .30 cal. semi-automatic rifle, 18 in. barrel, 35 in. overall, manufactured by the Inland Division of General Motors Corp. This classic weapon shows all the typical features of an early production gun: a push-button safety, a two-position flip sight, a flat-sided bolt, an ejector with three bevel cuts to its face, and a 'high wood' stock covering the operating handle. The top fore area of the receiver, over the chamber, is marked 'U.S. CARBINE CAL. 30 MI' and to the top rear, 'INLAND DIV.' and the serial number '3014224', indicating manufacture in October,1943. The barrel is also marked with 'INLAND MFG. DIV.', 'GENERAL MOTORS', and '11-43' in three separate lines, with the barrel properly lacking a bayonet lug. The stock, constructed of unvarnished walnut, features the usual 'l'-shaped sling cut. The bottom of the grip is marked with a 'P' within a circle, indicating that the weapon has passed inspection, and the right-hand side of the butt is marked with the flaming shell of the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps in the style particular to Inland. The interior of the sling pocket on the left-hand side is marked with 'TRIMBLE TN', as well as a separate 'T' and a T.I.', also stamped in the sling groove. Stock features a stamped steel butt plate. Rifle holds 98% of the original parkerized and blued finish overall. Showing some minor loss of bluing to the top of the bolt body from the action being hand-cycled, also some very minor loss to the parkerized finish on the bolt handle from the same, as well as some loss to the finish on the front sight protector fins. The stock and hand guard are both in very good condition, only showing three minor areas of loss to the finish with some scratches deeper in the wood, due to being improperly packed in a wooden shipping box, but overall very good to fine and showing nice original dark oil finish to a medium walnut color. Offered with: a World War II-era 15-round magazine in blued finish, marked 'UI'. All firearm purchases must be completed through a Federal Firearms license holder, and the purchaser is responsible for all associated fees. No shipping outside of the United States.
