WORLD WAR II JAPANESE COMBAT FIELD CANTEEN
Steel constructed canteen, 5 x 7.5 in., painted OD green, with canvas harness. On the reverse is the carving: ‘Dean A. Wells 29th Marines 6th Division USMC Okinawa Island', indicating this was repurposed by an American soldier. The 6th Division earned the Presidential Unit Citation for their service in Okinawa in which they had proven a capability for rapid advancement, responsible for the capture of the majority of northern Okinawa. Light wear to the paint and a few small dents at the base, else very good.
