DOUBLE SIGNED AND INSCRIBED, BY VAN KIRK, with a signed and annotated drawing of his image of the mushroom cloud over Hiroshima just after impact, drawn out on the front free endpaper by Van Kirk, and a 2pp summary by Van Kirk, in ballpoint pen, laying out the reasons for the use of the Atomic bomb on Hiroshima, We dropped the bomb to destroy the many military targets in Hiroshima, to destroy the Japanese will to fight, to save the lives of our POW's ... and to end the war and stop the killing." Van Kirk was a regular on the publicity circuits from 1945 onwards, and this copy was signed and inscribed for the present owner at one such fair.
