WW1 British, Great War, SMLE Rifle Breech Covers. Two Examples. Two original examples of the canvas cotton breech covers dating from the Great War. One example is dated to the interior '1918' in purple ink. A large broad arrow stamp present as well as the original owners name and number. 'NX142769, Dvr A.R. Gardiner'. All three press studs are present with a small tear around one of the male studs. A second example of the same construction and utilizing the same type of riveted press stud fasteners, looks to be also dated faintly 1918, but wear and soiling has obscured the original stamping. Both are in good displayable condition, with age related wear and staining. Two examples. The Late Richard Archer Collection.
