Edged Weapon lot to include 1) French WW1 M1892/15 Mannlicher-Berthier Bayonet with scabbard. A nice French WW1 M1892/15 Mannlicher-Berthier Artillery bayonet, the excellent blade is 400mm (15 3/4"), wooden grips secured with two steel rivets, the spring catch is working, it is complete with it's original steel scabbard. 2) German Manufactured Argentine Mauser Model 1909 Artillery Short Sword with Scabbard & Frog. This really is a very nice example of a German-manufactured Argentine Model 1909 Artillery Short Sword or Machete. Intended to be used by Argentine elite troops in the Argentine jungle and by the artillery, this fine example comes complete with its original scabbard and heavy belt frog. What is special about this example is that the ARGENTINE CREST is still visible on the ricasso of the blade. These were ordered removed or defaced by Argentine Government order before Export so consequently those with crests are particularly RARE. There looks to have been no attempt to remove it, and the MODELO ARGENTINO 1909 marking is still intact and crisp. The other side of the ricasso bears the German Bayonet maker's name: WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & CO SOLINGEN. This company is a manufacturer of military swords and cutlery in Solingen, Germany - a city famous since the middle ages for its metal-working and craftsmanship in sword making. Per J. Anthony Carter's fine work GERMAN SWORD AND KNIFE MAKERS, the traditional manufacturing of swords at WKC dates back to the year 1774 when the Weyersberg first registered the ''Kings head'' as their trademark. Later in 1883 the company merged with the Kirschbaums and the company WKC was formed as it exists today. It was heavily involved with exporting edged weapons to South American countries in the late 19th and early 20th century. The short sword and scabbard are marked with matching serial number F09222 with RA stamped on the sword's pommel, for República Argentina. 3) British No. 4 Spike Bayonet with Scabbard and Frog. Bayonet is in excellent condition. 4) Imperial German M1898/05 a/A Cutdown Bayonet and Scabbard. Blade shows signs of sharpening and is dated 1918 and comes with a blued scabbard. 5) WWII Nazi German K98 Bayonet and scabbard by COF. Blade has heavy wear throughout. Comes with an Italian Leather Frog.
