WWI IMPERIAL GERMAN BAVARIAN OFFICER SPIKED HELMET

Bavarian Model 1886 Cavalry Officers' Spiked Helmet (Pickelhaube) Black lacquered leather body and visors, the front visor trimmed in brass. 4½" tall fluted spike on a cruciform base mounted to the helmet body with three star-headed studs. Cruciform base. Leather-backed brass convex chin scales with Bavarian cockade on the left side and Reich's cockade on the right. Nicely detailed Bavarian front plate mounted to the body of the helmet with two threaded studs and nuts. Leather sweatband and satin/silk lining. The helmet's body is moderately crazing.
