3. Historical Context
The Sicherheitspolizei (SIPO / Security Police) comprised the Gestapo and Kripo under the Reich Main Security Office (RSHA). Telescopic steel spring batons, known historically as Stahlrute, were compact, concealable impact weapons used extensively by plainclothes security personnel and concentration camp guards. Similar original examples of these telescopic spring batons are preserved and featured on historical display in memorial collections, including the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, documenting the physical equipment used by SS and camp personnel during World War II.
4. Condition
In excellent vintage historical condition. The telescopic spring mechanism extends and collapses properly. The metal components retain a strong original blued finish with minor operational wear along the friction joints. The leather wrist strap remains supple with solid stitching, and the "SIPO" stamp on the pommel is crisp and fully legible.
