World War Two Finnish Lotta Svard pinback medal - badge. This medal is numbered 84718 and manufacturer marked on the reverse. This medal is in excellent condition with no enamel damage. The Lotta Svard was a Finnish women's auxiliary paramilitary organization that was formed in 1918 to support the Finnish White Guard during the Finnish Civil War of 1918. During WW2 this organization was mobilized to replace men conscripted into the army. They served in hospitals, at air raid warning positions and worked closely with the army in other auxiliary functions. In 1944 an anti-aircraft battery was formed with some members of the Lotta Svard. During World War Two, 291 members died including 66 at the front, 47 in air raids, 34 in accidents, and 140 of disease contracted while on duty. measure In-house shipping is available.
