WWII Flying Tigers AVG autographed Autobiography "Tale of a Tiger". R. T. Smith
A signed third printing of the hardcover book Tale of a Tiger by Robert T. Smith, published by Tiger Originals in Van Nuys, California, in November 1990. The work serves as a daily diary of the author's experiences as an ace pilot with the American Volunteer Group (AVG), famously known as the Flying Tigers, during World War II. The volume is signed on the front flyleaf in black ink by the author, R.T. Smith, and fellow Flying Tigers ace Dick Rossi. A third signature by Dick Rossi appears on page 361, placed directly adjacent to his printed name in the roster of the First Pursuit Squadron (Adam & Eves). The book includes several pieces of laid-in ephemera: a newspaper clipping from the LAX Flight Path dated November 3, 2005, regarding a speaking engagement by Dick Rossi; a two-sided promotional flyer for the documentary film The Call to Glory; and a printed advertisement for aviation lithographs featuring the Flying Tigers.
