WWII GERMAN LUFTWAFFE M42 HELMET VET BRING BACK

Single decal M 42 Luftwaffe helmet in excellent condition. This helmet, along with four other items in this auction, was brought back by veteran Roger Hubbell of Cleveland, Ohio. Late war production Sachsische emaillier und stanzwerke A.G. / Lauter manufacture stamped hkp66 over lot number 2730.This helmet retains 90% -95% original blue-grey paint. The single Luftwaffe flying eagle and swastika decal is well preserved, and about 95% intact, with small chips near the tips of the wings. The interior of this helmet features a complete and intact liner with a correct wartime steel band. The liner leather is complete, with the drawstring intact, and shows almost no wear, with only typical age toning.The liner retaining split pins and washers are all present and appear totally untouched. The chinstrap is untouched and the leather is supple and pliable. Roger Hubbell of Cleveland, Ohio served in the United States Army and arrived in Germany near the end of the war. Roger was the son of Charles Hubbell, who was the world's best known artist-historian of the early aviation age. The consignor obtained this helmet and other bring back items directly from Roger Hubbell and they have been in the consignor's collection up to this time. There is a vintage tag affixed to the helmet by Hubbell which reads "Sent home from Europe by R. Hubbell". A photograph of the original shipping label is included.
