WWII Interest: a George VI silver small two handled presentation cup and cover, on ebonised plinth, with engraved inscription, hallmarked by E B Haywood, Birmingham, 1937, the inscription reads: BUCKINGHAM COLLEGE HARROW 26-6-42 to ARTHUR ASKEY FROM THE FATHER OF A PRISIONER OF WAR [1] Note: this cup was given to Arthur in recognition of him appearing as entertainment during the Sixth Annual Prize Distribution at Buckingham College 25th June 1942, the collection was in aid of Harrow Prisoners of War.
