Japanese WWII military sword, the 28" bright steel blade is straighter than the Type 94 & 95, possible Japanese character marking appearing only on the blade tang (nakajo) next to the rear mekuji hole, the wood handle with silk wrapping, blade in very good condition without nicks, the guard (tsuba) is black steel, the pommel (kashira) is capped with an engraved tree at the end, housed in a brown leather scabbard with metal throat, center band and toe, lacking one band, overall: approx 40.5"l; 3lbs total **Provenance: From the estate of Ali A.
