WWII LUFTWAFFE SIGNED ARTIST PRINT LOT OF 2 WW2
Lot of two aviation art prints to include 1) Shadow Of The Moon by Brian Bateman. A lone FW-190A6 flown by Freidrich Karl M¸ller banks high above the clouds following contrails from a British bomber high over the Reich in the summer of 1943.Print is numbered 54 of 250 Overall size: 21" x 26" Image size: 14" x 18 1/2" and is signed by the artist Brian Bateman and Luftwaffe Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords winner Hajo Herrmann. 2) Luftwaffe at War by Mark Postlethwaite. The aircraft depicted is the rarely painted FW 190 A5-U8 and was the personal aircraft of Fritz Setzer of 5/SKG 10. The Fock-Wulf's of II/SKG 10 had been carrying out highly successful daylight attacks on the south coast of England since the Gruppe's formation in Mar. 1943. Their luck was to change however on their first nocturnal attack on 16/17 April. On this occasion, the combination of darkness, the intense flak barrage over London, opposition from night fighters and an increased cockpit workload for the pilots all proved too much. Setzer's aircraft was one of three to make a forced landing at West Malling, a fourth crashed further south and another was lost over the Channel. This print is signed by the artist and by Fritz Setzer and is numbered 126 of 850.††
