WWII NAZI GERMAN MODEL 98 CONVERTED TO .22 RIFLE
SN 5368. 25" barrel bolt action rifle in .22. This rifle began life as a German military service rifle, coded "dou" and dated 1944 on the barrel, complete with Waffenamts and marked "Mod. 98." on the left side of the receiver. The barrel has been fitted with a subcaliber insert, stock holes have been filled in, and four holes have been drilled into the side of the receiver. Additionally, the bolt has been reworked and fitted to accept a .22 caliber bolt and chamber, which is marked "E. L. 24" on the front and "I / J.R. 24" on the rear. The stock has been sporterized and fitted with a Redfield rubber recoil pad. Front blade sight and rear tangent sights have been left intact. This was a common practice for military training rifles. Bore excellent, action flawless, the rifle displays typical service wear and heavy aging and handling wear. Very Good*
