Walt Disney – Limited Edition Marc Davis Snow White Maquette Reproduction by Gentle Giant Studio (Walt Disney, 2002). Gentle Giant Studio presents this extremely limited-edition bronze reproduction of the original maquette created by Walt Disney Studio key animator Marc Davis during the production of Walt Disney's first feature length motion picture Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! Snow White's translation onto the theatrical screen is attributed to numerous artists, the foremost being Myron Grim Natwick (creator of Betty Boop) and his key animation unit comprised of Lester Novros, Jack Campbell, and Marc Davis. While the team rotoscoped life-like movements of the titular character, Davis produced a three-dimensional clay sculpt of Snow White's head, to add depth to his drawings. After Snow White was complete, Davis' own artistry continued to gain him recognition as one of Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men" entrusted with preserving the high standards of animation produced by the Studio. Through successive decades Davis has been credited for his contributions to such celebrated characters as Bambi Cinderella, Tinker Bell, Maleficent, and Cruella de Vil. Decades later, Gentle Giant Studio paid homage to Marc's most memorable contribution toward the Walt Disney Company with this Snow White Maquette scanned from the artist's original work, and limited edition of 250 resin pieces and 25 bronze pieces. This lot is the rarer bronze replica, numbered 25 under its base, and is accompanied by its Certificate of Authenticity. Measuring 4.25" x 4.25" x 6.25" tall, this masterfully crafted maquette of the timeless fairytale heroine is respectfully presented atop a polished marble base and is in Fine condition.
