Walt Disney Studios - Alice in Wonderland (1951)

[ translate ]

Alice in Wonderland Alice Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1951). "Better look first, for if one drinks much from a bottle marked "Poison", it's almost certain to disagree with one sooner or later." Featured in this lot is an incredible, large 16 field 3-peghole animation drawing of the titular Alice from the wonderfully weird 1951 feature film Alice in Wonderland. The graphite with color pencil drawing captures Alice as she holds the ‘drink me' bottle at about the 8:29 mark, cautiously looking it over before she does as the note instructs. The animation in this scene was supervised by Disney Legend inductee and one of Disney's "Nine Old Men" Ollie Johnston (1912 – 2008). This huge, rare drawing measures roughly 4.75'' x 7'' and is centered on the page. It is noted as 196 in the lower right corner. Production art from the 1950s is hard to come by and we've seen few of this scene! Very Good condition overall with light age-related toning, minor edge and handling wear, and a few small stray marks. HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
