Walt Disney Studios - Bambi (1942)

[ translate ]

Bambi RARE Deer and Birds Layout Drawing (Walt Disney, 1942). This beautiful and rare 16 field 5-peghole layout drawing was created for Disney's 1942 feature film Bambi. The film was based on the 1923 novel "Bambi, a Life in the Woods" and took almost seven years to make. The layout in this lot features six different deer as they rush from the clearing, birds flocking around them. This looks to be created for the dramatic and suspenseful sequence when the deer in the clearing flee from Man, particularly the scene at 31:07 when Mother calls for Bambi. The scene is made even more tense with vibrant silhouettes and backgrounds, largely influenced by Tyrus Wong (1910 – 2016), and music by Frank Churchill (1901 – 1942) and Edward H. Plumb (1907 – 1958). It's a fantastic look at the setup for one of the most impactful sequences in the film. The layout is rendered with color pencil and measures about 11.5'' x 7'' and is unlabeled. Light age-related toning with minor edge and handling wear. Faint creases along the left side of the paper, but not near the image. Very Good condition.
