Fantasia "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Yen Sid Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). With a look of supreme disappointment, offered in this lot is an original animation drawing of Yen Sid from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment of Disney's Fantasia. This segment is considered to be one of Mickey Mouse's greatest roles in which he plays apprentice to the sorcerer, Yen Sid (Disney spelled backwards), but is wholly unprepared for the challenges of mastering the use of magic on his own. When Yen Sid reappears near the end of the segment, with this closeup image being spotted near the 38:05 mark of the full film, he is utterly appalled at the disarray Mickey has wrought upon his study. The capable Sorcerer stands half-figured and centered on the 12 field animation paper, rendered in graphite and colored pencil to an impressive character size of 5.75" x 7". The sheet includes several animator's notes, some of which have been marked through, and a date stamp that reads Feb 3 1940, approximately 10 months before the film's release. The piece has framed under Plexiglas to an overall size of 18" x 16" with a mat aperture of 11.5" x 9.5", and a print is included for reference. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. With typical studio handling and wear including light age-related toning, faint creasing, and peghole reinforcement, overall this rare drawing is in Very Good condition.
