Fantasia "Pastoral Symphony" Melinda Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). The lovestruck centaurette Melinda makes an appearance in this outstanding animation drawing from Disney's ambitious and groundbreaking film Fantasia. This trimmed 16 field 5-peghole drawing can be found in the "Pastoral Symphony" segment that features the music of Symphony No. 6, Op. 64. The segment explored the world of Greek mythology with centaurs, cherubs, pegasi, and the god Bacchus. This charming drawing can be found at about 1:24:02 in the film as Melinda spots her love interest Brudus, rendered expertly in graphite with color pencil and noted as 83 in the lower right corner. The character was animated by Disney Legend Fred Moore (1911 – 1952), who contributed animation to a variety of Disney characters. This large full figure drawing measures around 6.25'' x 7'' and includes extensive ink and paint codes. There is a studio stamp in the lower left noting it as Production 2004, Sequence 4.2, and Scene 92.2. The page exhibits edge and handling wear, light age-related toning, a few stray marks, and three reinforced pegholes. There are two pieces of tape attached and slight superficial wrinkles, though not near the image. Fair to Good condition for this beautiful centaurette.
