Fantasia "Night on Bald Mountain" Chernabog Animation Drawing Group of 15 (Walt Disney, 1940). Chernabog rises in his spectacular and terrifying debut in this large group of 16-field animation drawings from the Bill Tytla (1904 – 1968) estate. Tytla, a Disney Legend inductee, was an incredible artist who worked for Disney, Terrytoons, and Famous Studios and was most known for animating large, imposing characters. These enormous drawings are rendered in color pencil and graphite with color pencil, found at approximately 1:50:52 in this animated masterpiece. The drawings range from 2.75'' x 5'' to about 15.25'' x 8''. The first drawing pictures the demon himself while the rest feature Chernabog's imposing and enormous wings open up to fill nearly the entire width of the page. The pages number 265A, 265, 177, 281, 265, 249, 53, 85, 69, 217, 297, 319, 317, 315, and 291. Four pages include a timing chart on the right border, giving us additional insight into how this memorable and terrifying introduction scene was animated. The drawings exhibit minor edge and handling wear with faint superficial wrinkles, small stains, minor debris, and light age-related toning. The drawings are in Very Good condition overall and a fantastic find whether you are a fan of Tytla, Fantasia, or the medium of animation.
