Walt Disney Studios - Pinocchio (20th Century)

[ translate ]

Pinocchio "I've Got No Strings" Pinocchio Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). "Down where the Volga flows, there's a Russian rendez-vous. Where me and Ivan goes, but I'd rather go with you, hey." "There are no strings on me!" Pinocchio shows off his newly learned and impressively stringless Russian Dance skills in this original animation drawing from the second animated feature film released by Walt Disney Studios, Pinocchio. Arguably the most memorable musical number of the film, "I've Got No Strings" is performed by a cosmopolitan collection of marionettes in a puppet show put on by greedy puppet-master Stromboli with Pinocchio as the star attraction. This charming moment can be spotted near the 39:05 mark of the film just after the final Russian-themed verse as the stringless star surprises himself with his own dance moves. Full-figured and pleasingly centered on the 12 field animation paper, Pinocchio has been rendered by hand in graphite and colored pencils to a size of 4" x 4.75" including his shadow. The piece has been framed under glass to an overall size of 14.5" x 14.5" with a mat aperture of 9" x 7" for the drawing and an additional aperture of 5" x 1.25" for a plaque that reads "The Russian Dance ‘Pinocchio' (1940)". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. With typical studio handling and wear including light age-related toning and faint smudging, overall this rare drawing is in Very Good condition.
