Alice's Mysterious Mystery RARE Dogs Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1926). This lot features an exceptionally rare trimmed 10'' x 12'' 2-peghole animation drawing from the 1926 Walt Disney-directed short Alice's Mysterious Mystery. The short was part of Alice Comedies, a series created by Walt Disney, Ub Iwerks, and their staff that pre-dated Silly Symphony. It did the opposite of what other animated productions were doing by placing a live action protagonist in a completely hand-drawn animated environment. Mysterious Mystery followed Alice and her cat Julius as they worked to rescue a schoolhouse full of dogs from a cunning mouse and his boss Bootleg Pete. This wonderful graphite drawing features the large group of pups after Julius releases them from captivity, found at about the 6:29 mark of the short. The dogs are noted as 289 by the animators to track the dogs as they cycled through the scene. The pack of dogs measures an impressive 8.5'' x 3.5'' on the 8.5'' x 12'' paper, likely trimmed for preservation or future reference. This is an outstanding piece of Disney animation history and truly too good to ignore - it could be the center piece of your collection! Very Good condition with light age-related toning, minor edge and handling wear, and faint smudging. HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
