Walt Disney Studios - Sleeping Beauty (20th Century)

[ translate ]

Sleeping Beauty Maleficent Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1959). "Come. We must go to the dungeon to cheer him up." The Mistress of Evil playfully says to herself and her pet raven, a smug smile on her face. This 16 field 3-peghole animation drawing shines a spotlight on Maleficent. She was designed by Disney Legend Marc Davis (1913 – 2000) and inspired by the work of Eyvind Earle's (1916 – 2000). Her complex and flowing robes, displayed prominently in this graphite with color pencil drawing, were inspired by manuscript images in a medieval art book. Maleficent can be found as she rises from her throne at about 1:01:20. She measures approximately 10.5'' x 8.5'' and is noted as 141 in the lower right with initials in the top right. There is a small area where her horns and hand were erased and corrected. Minor edge and handling wear with light age-related toning. With only two reinforced pegholes and faint debris, this vintage villainess is in Very Good condition. HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
