Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs RARE Disney Legend Marc Davis's Personal Binder with 116 Original Production Drawings (Walt Disney, 1937). This extraordinary collection of 116 original production drawings from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs represents a rare piece of animation history, directly from Disney Legend Marc Davis. Most of these sketches are believed to be from his hand and some are from other animators like Grim Natwick, Bill Tytla, Fred Moore among others. Marc put this book together himself and kept it intact for almost 90-years! This assortment includes original rough and tie-down sketches of Snow White, the Old Hag, forest animals, and the dwarfs. The binder contains about 35 Snow White pieces (some are on both sides of the paper and one is the famous image of Snow White in her death sleep), five Old Hag sketches, 57 Dwarfs sketches (one is the famous image of them peeking over the footboard of the bed as Snow White wakes up), and about 15 forest animal sketches. The sketches were put in this binder by Marc. This amazing piece of Disney history comes to auction from the private archive of Marc and Alice Davis, these graphite and color pencil illustrations on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper, showcase the meticulous detail and artistic mastery that defined early Disney animation. In traditional animation, the first drawings are called "roughs" or "rough animation", created first to establish position, style, and timing for movement on screen, often done in a very loose style. If the animation is successfully pencil tested and approved by the director, clean versions of the drawings are done. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs marked Marc Davis's first project at Disney, where he started in 1935 as an assistant animator. His remarkable talent and creative vision would eventually earn him a place of legendary status as one of "Walt's Nine Old Men," leading to significant contributions across Disney's animated films and theme park attractions. Davis's work helped shape the magic of Disneyland through attractions like the Enchanted Tiki Room, Pirates of the Caribbean, and many more. In 1989, his contributions were formally recognized when he was named a Disney Legend, further solidified by two Mousecar awards over his 44-year tenure and the honor of having his and his wife Alice's names on side-by-side windows on Main Street, USA, in Disneyland. Marc's reads: "Far East Imports – Exotic Art – Marc Davis – Proprietor". Alice's window reads; "Small World Costumes - Alice Davis - Seamstress to the Stars". While showing signs of edge wear and age-related toning, this collection, in Fair condition, offers collectors an unparalleled glimpse into the legacy of one of Disney's most influential artists. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of the magic that has captivated audiences for generations. Collectors; this is a rare opportunity – don't pass this up, we may never see this again – original production art from the hand of Walt Disney's "Renaissance Man" on his first project.
