Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Doc Preliminary Character Drawing by Bill Tytla (Walt Disney, 1937). Featured in this lot is a preliminary character drawing of the dwarfs' faithful leader, Doc. Doc wasn't included in the initial story outline of the film created in 1935 and his role wasn't fully established until several months later when his rocky relationship with Grumpy solidified. This 12 field 5-peghole page includes two preliminary full figure drawings of this usually flustered character rendered in graphite with color pencil, capturing a smiling and confused Doc. The 6.25'' x 6.75'' was created by Disney Legend inductee Bill Tytla (1904 – 1968) and would have been created to study the character's design and personality. Tytla was an incredibly renowned animator with nearly four decades of experience. He not only had a hand in bringing all seven of the dwarfs to life, but also animated memorable characters like Chernabog, Yen Sid, and Stromboli.
