Walter Lothar Brendel was a German painter and art expert. He is considered one of the first German abstract painters of the post-war period. The work was created in Salzburg in Feb-March 1975, apparently for the “Große Ausstellung München 1975”. I think it is entitled "Head", 115x90 cm. Brendel was a friend of the art collector Wilhelm Hack and was instrumental in his decision to donate his collection to the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein for the founding of the Wilhelm Hack Museum.
