WOW...This is an amazing early American Wrist Watch. We have never seen this exceptional model before. The entire watch, case, dial and movement are hand made. The case is custom made for Tiffany and is dated and patented in 1912. This watch came out nearly exactly the same year that Cartier introduced his Tortue watch in their line in Paris. Cartier based his design from a series of giant stone Tortoises he saw holding up columns in a Greek Temple. The dial, is not printed, it is done in Sterling Silver and the beautiful stylized numbers are done in Kiln Fired Enamel This process was very expensive and complicated to do and only the finest Swiss watches used this method. While some American housed did as well on their finest watches, this process was seldom used. Lastly, it is still fitted with what appears to be its original period buckle and crown, which is unheard of for a wrist watch this old.
Waltham is one of Americas oldest watch companies and was renowned for their exceptional accuracy and dependability. While this watch is 110 years old it has just been serviced by our team and keeps dependable time and can worn and admired. You will never see another watch like this one again.
