Walther Rathenau Signed Postcard
Important German statesman and socialist leader (1867–1922) who served as foreign minister during the Weimar Republic and initiated the Treaty of Rapallo; he was assassinated by the ultra-nationalist Organisation Council terrorist group. Postcard signed "Dr. W. Rathenau," one page, 5.5 x 3.5, postmarked January 13, 1903. Invitation response card submitted to "Fischer, Verlag" in Berlin, in part (translated): "I will be attending the dinner in honor of Maurice Maeterlinck on January 18th, 7:00 am, in the 'Hotel Rome.'" In fine condition, with a rusty circular paperclip impression to the top.
