Warren Kremer (1921-2003)

[ translate ]

Warren Kremer and Lee Elias Chamber of Chills Magazine #6 Story Page 3 Original Art (Harvey, 1952). In the pre-Comics Code era, Kremer and Elias excelled in crafting chilling tales under Harvey's horror imprint. Following the 1954 censor-driven Code, the artists diverged: one adhered to lighter fare at Harvey Comics, while the other solidified a legacy in science fiction and superhero illustration at DC Comics. This page from the horror anthology finds a western treasure hunter caught by a tribal shaman while attempting to pilfer a sacred ruby necklace, setting up his eventual conflict with "The Seven Skulls of Magondi!". Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 18". Lightly toned board with light handling wear. In Excellent condition.
