Washburn Model 122 is a historic bowl-back mandolin crafted by Lyon & Healy in Chicago between roughly 1900 and 1905. A hallmark of the turn-of-the-century American mandolin craze, this model features an elongated 20-fret ebony fingerboard adorned with diamond and snowflake mother-of-pearl inlays, an ornate scalloped faux-tortoiseshell pickguard, and an oval soundhole trimmed with multi-ply wood purfling. Its iconic rounded "tater bug" body is traditionally constructed from 15 interlocking ribs of premium Brazilian rosewood separated by thin, contrasting wood spacers.
