Well-preserved bronze mortar and pestle, Moorish Spain

A well-preserved bronze mortar and pestle, Moorish Spain, 15 - 16th Century, the body of sturdy construction with narrow foot, flared rim and vertically oriented flanges running around the sides. The pestle is heavy with flared, rounded end. Mortar is 4 x 4 ½ in (10.2 x 11.4 cm); Pestle length 8 1/8 in (20.6 cm). Nicely patinated, the rim with a few dings from use.
